Since Tara and Jason were from out of town they decided to shoot their engagement photos the day before their wedding….but you would’ve never known it! They were both so calm and confident with each other throughout the session which made for an awesome time with these two. Here are a few I captured.

San Luis Obispo is Heather and Matt’s old stomping grounds, so they decided they’d like to drive around and take their engagement photos here. Hearing their story and seeing their infatuation with each other made for an awesome time to hang out with these two. Kami + Nick San Luis Engagement Session

I had a great time meeting Kami and Nick and shooting their engagement session. One of the best things about shooting weddings is the time I get to spend with the couples during their engagement session. Being able to spend time with them before their big day allows me to get a glimpse of who they are as a couple. I quickly discovered how great these two complimented each other…..I think these pictures show it.
Part of getting to know Kami and Nick was discovering their two cute little shichons. In general I’m not a huge dog fan, but these two were enough to convince me that I want one…seriously, ask Allegra I was telling her all about them!

Jessica + Drew San Luis Engagement Session

Jessica and Drews engagement session started off with driving through the back country of San Luis Obispo. Despite the crazy windy day and scouting multiple locations to avoid the gusts and wind blown hair, these two were troopers and were full of fun loving laughter! I had a blast….I hope you enjoy!I was so stoked to use this “better together”pennant banner by Lisa Leonard Designs!This first photo on the left is a perfect snap shot of how Drew gazed at his bride to be for most of the photo session. From the moment I captured the first frame, it was obvious how in love they were. I can’t wait to head up to Carmel for their wedding in a couple of months!

Alexis + Wade [Holland Ranch Engagement Session]

Alexis, Wade and I met up at Holland Ranch for their engagement photos on one of the most perfect sunny days! They will be getting married later this year at this venue (one of my favorites) and thought it would be fun to capture some memories there before the big day. Andrea + Tom [San Luis Obispo Engagement Session]

I can’t help but remember my own engagement shoot every time I meet a new couple and get out there with them for their engagement photos. There’s this crazy tumbleweed of emotions that I can remember, the nerves and above all, the excitement. I of course, also remember how awkward it can feel to get out there with a relative stranger and the idea that I had to look cool, be hot, show how in love I was (still am by the way) with my fiance (now wife). Andrea and Tom just made me feel like I was at home. I know it sounds strange, but they did. Completely comfortable with each other and just truly nowhere else but in that moment and totally okay with me being in their faces, it wasn’t work at all. Cracking jokes, loving each other without direction, and just truly OK where they were, it was getting to know them.Andrea & Tom, thank you for all the laughs & for the dose of afternoon fun!

Hollie + Mike [San Luis Obispo Engagement Session]

In the cool of a pre-spring day, Hollie and Mike wandered through Eucalyptus, held hands in the tall grass, and took a Harley out on the calm country roads that belong to the Coast. I have to say, I love it when a couple wants to throw something different into a photo session whether it’s dressing up or having a theme, it just makes their photos more….”them.” Hollie and Mike wanted to add a Harley to the mix for their engagement photos. I was more than up for it! Of course, I had to ask once we were in the midst of our time together, “So, why the Harley?” Well, it comes down to a little game of “Lets Make A Deal.” Mike is a motorcycle cop and, well, loves motorcycles. Hollie lovingly informed him a few years ago, “You can get your own Harley when I get my ring!” ….she got the ring, now it’s his turn.I am so looking forward to their wedding day where hundreds of family and friends will surround them as they commit their lives to each other to create one shared life. I’m sorry, but I’m quite sure that I have one of the most amazing jobs around!

Vanessa + Adam [San Luis Obispo Engagement Session]

I met Vanessa & Adam on a gorgeous spring afternoon in Cayucos. As the music of a jam session drifted through the breeze, we talked and I got to know my new friends.
Friends are something I quickly learned are a staple in the lives of both Vanessa & Adam. Their entire wedding will be surrounded and supported by those they love and invest their time with. This, to me, revealed a spirit about them that was raw, real, and honest in a beautiful way. During the most important day of a couples life, a day when they are saying YES to forever, I believe that these two have it right. They are blessed to be able to ingrain those that will have a deep investment in their marriage at the forefront of all that will surround the day. They will be united, dance to, and fill up by the hands of friends who have come together to help them. So while we spent the afternoon frolicking in the afternoon sun, I watched their playful spirits unfold and their love multiply. I watched Adam lose himself in his love, his best friend and I saw Vanessa swell with a radiant confidence that a woman who is truly loved and cherished has. To my new friends, I am honored to be a part of putting the moments of your beautiful love into your archives into forever.
